It’s Carnival!

July 31, 2007 at 9:07 pm (A day in the life...)

In approximately one hour I will be leaving my for my trip to Antigua.  Just wanted to say bye to my blogging peeps.  I will be back on August 11th. (Doesn’t mean I’ll be posting on August 11th but I’ll try to get some vacation recaps up in a timely fashion!)

In the meantime…
“A video of Filipino prisoners dancing to hits like Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” in bright orange uniforms has become an instant worldwide hit on the video sharing website YouTube.” (read more)

I guess that’s more productive than “shanking” other inmates.

And I’m out!!!

Much needed vacation

July 26, 2007 at 8:24 pm (Misc)

So work has been crazy busy… not including the freelance stuff that I do as well…

But I will be leaving next week for Antigua.   I’ll be maxin’ and relaxin’ for 10 whole days.  I’m glad I’ll be coming back on a Friday because I have a feeling I’ll need a vacation from my vacation and will need to rest up before I go back to work :-P

Trying to be nice

July 17, 2007 at 10:00 pm (A day in the life...)

I just spent 20 minutes writing a rant about my annoying co-worker and then ended up deleting it after I posted because I felt bad for tearing him apart  :-(

The thing is, he’s well intentioned and everyday I tell myself that I’m going to be nice. And then he’ll do something to piss me off and then it’s “Mean Girls” all over again.

Who knows, maybe tomorrow I’ll be pissed off enough to not care about being mean…

Are you jealous?

July 1, 2007 at 3:27 am (A day in the life...)

Just got home a little while ago from the Ice Cream Summer Fest and I’m still on a high. It’s been a long time since I’ve had that much fun.

The first act to come on was Donell Jones. I was looking forward to seeing him (Where I Wanna Be… need I say more) but I was slightly disappointed by his performance. His voice kept going in and out and he sounded like he was out of breath. However, he was the first act and his performance definately got me in the mood despite the OK performance.

Next up, Carl Thomas. OOOOhhh weeee…. Summer Rain, I Wish, Emotional…. He was great. Nice, strong voice.

Then came K-CI and JOJO!!!! I was joking around with my friend that the last time I saw a pic of K-Ci (via Crunk & Disorderly of course) he was sitting on some guy’s neck looking like Gollum. He still looked a little “crack-ish” during his performance but he and Jo-Jo still have great voices and the crowd (and myself) was going crazy. The sang Freekin’ U, All My Life, Love U 4 Life, If You Think You’re Lonely Now, Get On Up and You Bring Me Up. Unfortunately they didn’t sing Come and Talk to Me and Dalvin and Devante were missing but K-Ci was doing his gyrations, dry humping and taking off his shirt. Good to know that some things never change ;-)

Then Jagged Edge came on next. I think they should have put them on before K-Ci and Jo-Jo because they didn’t hype up the crowd as much. Oh well, it gave me a chance to go to the washroom! I’m not a huge JE fan so they sang a couple songs that I didn’t know but what I remember was Promise, Gotta Be and Let’s Get Married.

Then came the only female act, S W V !!!! They were fabulous and they also announced that this was going to be their last performance EVER. I was a little sad but I’m glad I got to see it. They performed I’m So Into You, Right Here, Anything, Rain, Use Your Heart and ended with Weak.

And then finally, the main act was New Edition. They were fantastic. Totally nostalgic. They did all their dances from way back when and came out wearing white suits. Bobby Brown wasn’t there but then when they came out there were only four! Apparently Mr. Sensitivity was very, very sick and couldn’t make it but they decided to go on with the show rather than cancelling it. Ricky ended up singing Ralph’s parts but the performance went quite well despite the missing members. I was singing along at the top of my lungs even though I have no business singing in public. But so was everyone else. We were so loud, NE just let us sing some of Ralph’s parts too. They performed a mix of NE hits as well their solo hits and ended the night with Poisen and SWV came out to dance with them.

**sigh** It was a greeeeat show and I didn’t have to pay a dime.

I was compaining to co-worker that I was tired of doing the same old things and he mentioned that he had a hookup for this concert, so he got us free tickets and we went! It just goes to show, whining can lead to good things ;-)

Good night y’all!!!
