I think it’s ironic that Will.I.Am produced “Hip Hop is Dead” for Nas considering the Black Eyed Peas is a perfect example of how hip hop has been dying over the years (I mean really… my humps??). But then maybe BEP is sorta like his day job… you know, that full time job that you do to pay the bills and then producing songs for real hip hop artists is like his weekend hobby, the thing that you do in your spare time because you are really passionate about it.
I found this clip of Nas and Jay-Z performing the song together live. It’s kind of funny seeing Jay-Z being the hype man.
In other music news, I spotted this over at Crunk and Disorderly. I don’t who it is but it’s supposed to be a “response” to Beyonce’s Irreplaceable. I’m watching American Idol and I can’t get over some of these people. I mean really, are they for real? At first I thought maybe they have no friends or family but most of them go to these auditions with someone. So what’s the problem? Are their “supporters” completely deaf? Or do they just want to get on TV so bad that they don’t care if they looked like a complete fool?

We are dreamgirls …..
I finally saw Dreamgirls last week and I am now officially a Jennifer Hudson groupie. She was fantastic. I don’t know what I was feeling but whenever she sang, my eyes would start watering! I even went so far as to BUY the soundtrack.
I don’t care how many movies Jamie Foxx does, when I look at him I’ll always see “Wanda-I’m-gonna-rock-your-world” from In Living Color!

I’ve been at my new job for about a month now and I really like it. However, I’ve become really lazy. I come home and I don’t feel like doing anything except eat and watch TV. Hence the sparse postings. It doesn’t take much effort to post a few videos so I thought I could at least keep up with my Throwback Thursdays.

Just when I thought I’d seen it all
I was cruising around on blogland and stopped by my girl’s page, REMIX TV and just HAD to link to this. Her post, appropriately titled “Great Moments in Canadian History” shows a YouTube video of a Rexdale highschool’s Christmas assembly. Back in my highschool days out west, I was one of the few people that listened to hip hop, r&b and reggae and I hardly ever heard it played anywhere.
Now that hip hop is becoming more pop than urban and reggae is starting to gain popularity as well, I’m hearing it everywhere. I was shocked when I heard Kelis’ Milkshake playing at my BANK …. but this video takes the cake. Tired
So I’ve been at my new job for a couple weeks now and I’m still trying to adjust to this 9-5 schedule. End of the week and I’m tired but I’m enjoying the job so far. Aside from the job, life is pretty quiet these days so there’s not much to write about. However, I have gotten a few “withheld” calls at strange hours. I hope it had nothing to do with THIS because I don’t want to deal with anymore drama. I love having call display… it makes it easier to screen…
Speaking of cell phones:
